The 5th is a real test, surely one of the signature holes of the course! There are a long line of very high trees along the left side of a fairly narrow fairway. The trees hang over a stream, which means that any shot that goes to the left normally ends up with a visit to the drop zone. To the right of a fairway is a dense orchard, which makes getting on the fairway important. However, if you are not long enough, you'll be left without a site of the green, laying up in front of the lake.

Once you can see the green, you'll find out where the flag is. On this hole with a very long green this will make a big difference to your approach shot - perhaps 3 clubs different! Given the different pin positions, getting a good distance is difficult - if the pin is to the left, the distance will be a lot less than marked, if to the right, it will be more. Either way, the approach shot will have to carry over the lake to a steeply sloping green. There is also a bunker in front of the green to the left, which can add to the test of the shot.

Once on the green, the test is far from over! The green slopes steeply from the back to the front, and on fast days it is almost impossible to stop a ball from rolling off the front. If you make a rare long putt on this green, you'll remember it for a long time! Leave it close, and you could still be left with a tricky putt.
