The U.N. Irish Bar is not your stereotypical Irish Bar. While it's got Guinness on tap, and its a great place to go for St. Patricks day, there is little in the way of tacky theming. It's run by an Ozzie and is a great place to hang out, in particular if your a sports fan. Wander in any time and there will be a plethora of sports on the t.v. from football to formula 1, and from cricket to rugby. Yes I said cricket - where better to follow the ashes or the cricket world cup? Oh, and I guess I should mention the Ozzie rules game too. There are 2 rooms for matches, upstairs or downstairs, which means if the game you want to see isn't on when you walk in, you'll likely find it on upstairs!

Where is it?
The U.N. Irish bar has a good location, inside the moat on Ratwithi road. Along this road you'll find a good selection of bars making it a popular place to hang out, particularly with expats. Finding it is easy, assuming you get on the right road. From Thapae gate head north along the inside of the moat, turn left at the first street and it's on the right after a couple of hundred yards.
The U.N. Irish bar also boasts a quiz night every Thursday, so its a great place for Trivia buffs too. While there is no pool table, there is a dart board upstairs, as well as a small beer garden. The low seats on the balcony overlooking the road provides a great spot for people watching.
