City Culture
The town centre hosts plenty of sites worth seeing, and a day wandering around the old city is highly recommended. The main tourist areas are inside the moat and the area between the moat and the river ping (which is where the Night Bazaar is situated). On the other side of town, closer to Doi Suthep, is Nimmanhaemin road, popular with the students from Chiang Mai university it is a good nightlife alternative. Continuing in this direction you pass the zoo and climb the Suthep mountain. Hiring a songthaew for this trip is a must for all visitors to Chiang Mai.
